In 2017, Hetrick Design, LLC emerged from an unwavering passion for residential design. What began as a side business soon blossomed into a full-time pursuit. Over the years, we’ve worked with builders, architects, and homeowners to craft beautiful homes that positively impact families and communities for generations.
At Hetrick Design, we leverage Chief Architect Premier—a professional home design software that seamlessly integrates 3D modeling with 2D plans. This advanced tool empowers us to make informed decisions about design inspirations, material selections, and structural coordination before construction begins. Our commitment extends beyond aesthetics; we incorporate proven building science principles for energy efficiency, comfort, health, durability, and to meet your budget. Whether it’s Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs), Insulated Sheathing, or Advanced Framing, we tailor modern construction methods to create homes that stand the test of time.
Designer/Owner
My passion for creating exceptional homes began in the early 1990’s. As a child, I honed my talent for drawing buildings by drawing what I observed with detail. As a kid guided by my father—a skilled master carpenter—I spent most of my time off school immersing myself in various construction tasks: roofing, pouring footings, drywall, installing windows, and more. These experiences instilled in me a strong work ethic and a commitment to professionalism.
During high school, I worked late nights at a local truss manufacturer while taking on my first professional drafting projects for my father’s construction endeavors. His hands-on wisdom propelled me to excel in the architectural drafting program at the career and technology center I attended. Notably, I clinched first place in a drafting competition at a local community college.
Inspired by my father, I began my adult working years as an assistant project coordinator for a large general contractor. This led me to pursue and earn a bachelor’s degree in construction management. Balancing college studies, full-time work, and service as a United States Marine Reservist, I demonstrated the work ethic inherited from my parents. Upon graduating, I secured a role as a BIM Coordinator, collaborating with talented architects and engineers on MEP design coordination for U.S. embassy compounds and other complex federal government buildings.
My expertise lies in understanding building materials, construction methods, and building science while incorporating them into an appealing design. Clients have valued me for my high-quality drafting, 3D modeling, and precise construction detailing. As a lifelong learner, I embrace the Japanese concept of “kaizen,” constantly refining my skills as a designer, business owner, parent, husband, and follower of Christ.
